Motor Sports
Performance car enthusiasts and in particular Motor Sport competitors are continuously looking to increase power in their engines. The camshaft plays an important part in increasing engine performance as it directly controls the opening and closing of the valves. Increasing duration and lift on the cam lobes can effectively increase volumetric efficiency and engine performance.
Auckland Cams are experts in profiling camshafts to gain optimum performance. Auckland Cams successfully built camshafts for performance street to full competition race applications. From motorcross to off Road racing Class 8 thunder trucks and motor mower racing to stock cars.
Stock car racing is hugely popular in New Zealand and primarily run on dirt tracks under Speedway New Zealand rules.
- Superstocks: The glamour and premier division of New Zealand speedway. These are deliberate-contact machines built with heavy-duty custom chassis and 4.0L engine limit.
- Stockcars: The largest speedway class in the country. They run to the same rough-and-tumble racing rules as Superstocks but have stricter technical restraints and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engine requirements to keep costs down.
- Streetstocks: The most affordable national class, built from reinforced, everyday road cars. They follow limited contact rules and are unique because racing occurs in both directions.
- Ministocks: An introductory, full-contact or non-contact training class for young drivers (usually 12 to 16 years old) to learn basic oval track skills.
