About Us
Auckland Camshafts Limited specialises in the repair and modification of camshafts, and is developing a reputation for excellence in workmanship and service. The core business is in servicing the automotive trade and in particular the engine reconditioning sector.
Auckland Camshafts Limited is a new company formed in 2009 by Henry van Vugt. Henry's background includes 15 years experience as an A-grade Automotive Machinist and another 9 years experience as a Technical Consultant for an international engine parts manufacturer. Henry is also a Mechanical Engineer and his extensive knowledge includes engine parts failure investigation and engine parts design to manufacturing. Henry is also an associate member of the Institute of Automotive and Mechanical Engineers. Henry first started grinding cams back in 1985 and his passion for this has led to Auckland Camshafts Limited.
In July, 2009 Auckland Camshafts Limited purchased another camshaft grinding company called Camco Cams of Rotorua. This acquisition has increased the already extensive master range for many standard, commercial, industrial, agricultural and performance engine applications.
Auckland Camshafts limited operates two Repco camshaft grinders. The main grinder has been meticulously rebuilt to the highest standard to achieve the finishes required for all late model camshafts and complex grinding applications.
Other services supplied are Camdoctor® computer cam analysis, cam follower re-facing, valve spring testing etc. Auckland Cams also run a small engine reconditioning workshop and can build engines in-house if required. The engine rebuilding equipment includes a Rottler automatic cylinder boring machine, Sunnen hone station, Carl Larsson connecting rod machining centers, Colchester lathe and assorted milling machines.
